Bob joined the firm in January 2001. His practice is concentrated in the following areas:

Bob earned his B.A. at The Ohio State University, cum laude in 1992 with majors in Journalism and Political Science. He earned his law degree from George Washington University in 1995.

Bob was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1995 and the Ohio Bar in 2000. He is admitted to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.

Professional Experience / Focus Areas

While attending college, Bob interned at several Fortune 500 companies and was selected as a White House summer intern. During law school, he clerked with the Office of General Counsel at the Immigration and Naturalization Service. After graduating from law school, Bob joined the Air Force where he served as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) where he prosecuted criminal defendants in Court Martial trials and represented the Air Force before administrative tribunals, including the following bodies:

  • The Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals (ASBCA)
  • The Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
  • The Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB)

Bob was promoted to Captain in 1996 and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. While stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base, he was appointed Special Assistant US Attorney for the Northern District of Texas and prosecuted over 80 cases. Bob subsequently transferred to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, where he provided contract review of research contracts for the Air Force Research Labs and also defended the Air Force against contractor claims as part of Air Force’s contract trial team.

Since joining SS+D in 2020 Bob has achieved numerous highlights in an extensive career, including the following notable matters:

  • Serves as national bankruptcy counsel for a large Ohio manufacturing company
  • Appointed by the Montgomery Court of Common Pleas as Receiver to recover assets stolen by Ponzi-scheme operator Roy Dillabaugh
  • Successfully represented the State of Ohio in a Federal Court claim for $400 million by a local school board
  • Represented multiple shareholders of a family-owned business that owns multiple apartment communities spread throughout Ohio. After extensive discovery and a round trip to the court of appeals, the clients achieved their goal of an attractive and fair price for their shares.
  • Represented the manufacturer of Christmas Tree lights in a lengthy injunction hearing that eventually required the competing party to repackage their products
  • Served as General Counsel to an innovative Dayton-based manufacturer of artificial knees
  • Successfully represented a civilian employee at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to regain the employee’s security clearance and save her job

    Bob is married, with three daughters.
