Pete joined SS+D in the fall of 2006 after a long and distinguished career in the practice of law in Dayton. He is admitted to the Ohio bar; U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio; U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit; U.S. Tax Court; U.S. Court of Federal Claims; and U.S. Supreme Court Pete started at the University of Notre Dame in 1947 in a combined undergraduate/law program. He left in 1951 to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War then returned to finish and graduate with his LL.B. in 1955. Upon graduation Pete went to Washington, DC, to work in the U.S. Department of Justice in the Internal Security Division where he spent four years in the Tax Division. In 1961 Pete came to Dayton to work in corporate and tax law with the firm of Estabrook Finn & McKee. He left there and went to the largest law firm in Dayton at that time, Smith & Schnacke, where he did retirement, pension, and corporate work and later, ERISA and Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. He went to Thompson Hine & Flory when Smith & Schnacke disbanded and stayed there through 1999. He then joined Bob Eilerman in an independent practice of Eilerman & Donahue where his practice included bankruptcy work representing creditors. Pete has been active in the Dayton Bar Association over the years and served as DBA President 1982-1983. In September 2006 the DBA honored Pete as Barrister of the Month where his colleague, Bob Eilerman, referred to Pete as a "Dean of the Dayton Bar Association." Pete and his wife, Eileen, met in Hamilton, Ohio in 1950 and were married in 1952. They have five children and fourteen grandchildren. Pete stays in shape, he has run 22 marathons in his life, including five Boston Marathons and 10 Marine Corps Marathons. He ran the marathons in just over 3 hours. Recognitions: |
