Erik joined SS+D as an associate in September 2008. His practice focuses primarily on general corporate and real estate work within the Corporate Law Department. Erik grew up in Troy, Ohio, and graduated from Troy High School in 1997. He went on to receive his B.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University in 2001. During the summer before his senior year at Vanderbilt, Erik interned with one of the first online fixed-income trading platforms, ValuBond. Upon graduation, Erik worked for two years for Caterpillar Incorporated’s financial services company as a financial analyst and collections representative. He then moved to LECG, a global expert services and consulting firm, as an associate consultant with a focus in the healthcare industry. Erik earned his Juris Doctorate at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, graduating in 2008. While at Moritz, he received the Michael Topper Memorial Award for outstanding first-year law students, the Academic Promise Award, the Robert K. Barton Memorial Scholarship, and was recognized as being a Moritz Ambassador. He also received CALI awards for achieving the top grade in two of his classes. Erik split the summer of 2006 between an externship with Judge Richard A. Frye at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas and class work in Oxford, England, through the University of Oxford-Ohio State University Summer Law Program. He served as the Student Bar Association representative to the Inter-Professional Council during his first and second years. He joined the Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal as a staff member in 2006-07 and served as the Symposium Administrative Editor in 2007-08. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, cooking, traveling, skiing, playing tennis and golf, and watching hockey. Although he has not recently delivered any hard checks, while at Vanderbilt, he played on the Vanderbilt University Ice Hockey Club. |
